Slick’s 2019 Divisional Round Overreactions

Slick’s 2019 Divisional Round Overreactions

The playoffs are here and the end of the dynasty is upon us.  I’m so excited, I just can’t wait, so let’s get to it.

Last place:  The Jets. Oh my god, you actually did it.  I mean I know it was funny to joke about the Jets bringing the recently fired Adam Gase up I-95 to mentor Young Anakin in the ways of the QB.  But I don’t think any of us actually expected them to actually do it.  Woody Johnson must be back on American soil.

Second to last place:  The Dolphins.  As we all know, the Dolphins are firmly entrenched in their quest to tank the 2019 season and draft Howie Long’s grandchild to protect the next in a long line of failures at QB.  Or just take that failure at #1 overall and forget the sieve all together.  Notice I’m not laughing at the head coaching hire for the Fins?  Yeah, because the still don’t have one.

Third to last:  The Bills. It’s kind of weird to not have anything to make fun of the Bills about…Maybe next year really is their year…

First place:  The Pats. Well, I was wrong.  I fully expected the Pats to show up and get their shit pushed in.  But in all aspects of the game, the Pats were doing the pushing.  The Pats thoroughly dominated the so called “best team in the AFC” from the opening kick right on through the end of the game.  Tom brady looked like he was 35 again, diagnosing the defense and exploiting the weaknesses before the ball was even snapped. And then there were the running backs…Sony Michel actually looked like a 1stround pick, breaking tackles, making guys miss and barreling into the end zone.  He even caught a pass (it looked real awkward, but he made a nice play out of it)!  James White was taken out of the mothballs he was resting in for the last 10 weeks and set an NFL record for catches in a playoff game. Even Robert Gronkowski showed a little flash of “Gronk”, we can only hope he’s on a full cycle of every steroid and human growth hormone he can get his hands on in an effort to finish his career as a three time champion.  Now the defense…it certainly didn’t start well, with Gilmore getting completely smoked on a double move, but from that play forward, the Pats’ defense put their collective sack on the table and completely shut down anything the Chargers wanted to do.  J

So it’s on to Kansas City for another AFC Championship game, the Pats look pissed let’s hope they can finally play a complete game on the road.
