I’m refraining from calling this a “prediction” piece this season. Predictions indicate one firmly believes something will happen and isn’t afraid to stand behind that judgment. In the NFL, nothing is certain except Roger Goodell’s poor judgment. That said, I’ll offer some form of prognostication, even if it’s lighthearted and not entirely backed up by evidence, but I really have no interest in how “correct” I’ll be.
As usual, these picks are for fun and should in no way be used for actual wagering purposes. That is, unless you want to make a ton of money in a legal forum, because we know more stuff and things about football than you do or something.

Cincinnati Bengals (0-5) @ Baltimore Ravens (3-2)
Sunday, October 13, 1:00 pm ET – CBS
Despite their win in Pittsburgh, the Ravens remain troubled on defense, where respectable pass rushing and secondary play remain elusive. The Bengals would have an advantage if wideout and perennial Raven killer A. J. Green were playing, but he’s barely begun practicing and has already been ruled out for Sunday. Expect to see a lot of wideout Tyler Boyd, a substantial Raven killer himself, in a closer-than-anticipated matchup.

Seattle Seahawks (4-1) @ Cleveland Browns (2-3)
Sunday, October 13, 1:00 pm ET – FOX
The Browns still don’t know who they are offensively, where they’ve stayed away from a full commitment to the run despite RB Nick Chubb’s 5.2 YPC and four TDs, yet have been unable to feed the ball consistently to wideout Odell Beckham Jr. (23 catches, 335 Yards, 1 TD). Seattle has been efficient on offense, but are relying on their defense (as always) to create pressure and turnovers, resulting in easier scoring opportunities. Again, as always, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and how he reacts to that pressure will be key to their success this week.

Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4) @ Los Angeles Chargers (2-3)
Sunday, October 13, 8:20 pm ET – NBC
After his ugly concussion last week, current Steelers starting quarterback Mason Rudolph appears to be a long shot to start in Los Angeles; the team appears set to give third -stringer Devlin Hodges his first career NFL start. Given the extensive Steelers injury list, it probably won’t make much difference, as the Chargers are looking to rebound after a poor outing last week and appear to be carrying the proverbial “chip on their shoulders”. Look for re-installed Chargers starting RB Melvin Gordon to receive a lot of action in an attempt to wear down a decent Pittsburgh defense.
