Buffalo Bills sign Brandon Spikes
The Bills agreed to terms with ILB Brandon Spikes, formerly of the Patriots, on a one-year deal. The Bills foreshadowed this signing when they announced second-year LB Kiko Alonso would move to weak-side linebacker, clearing the way for Spikes to man the middle. Spikes, one of the best run-stuffing linebacker in the league, will provide a solid anchor in the middle of the Bills’ new 4-3 scheme.
CB Finnegan, G Smith sign with Dolphins
Cornerback Cortland Finnegan signed a two-year contract with the Dolphins today, and it sounds as though the 30-year-old has designs on starting. Guard Shelley Smith also signed a two-year contract with the Dolphins today, and he, too, could compete for a starting job. Both ex-St. Louis Rams are decent signings for the Dolphins.
Patriots Secondary gets another boost
with signing of Branden Browner
The Patriots finally got their man n Friday night as Brandon Browner the free-agent cornerback from the Seattle Seahawks signed a 3 year deal worth a reported $17 million dollars to bring his talents to the Pats. It’s was a crazy day as the Browner deal was announced late Thursday night followed by a denial and reports that no deal was signed and he was visiting with the Washington Redskins on Friday. But apparently, Browner stayed in the area and the two sides worked on the deal until it was announced on Friday evening.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
visits with Jets
The Jets could end up replacing one Cromartie with another.
Gang Green cut cornerback Antonio Cromartie earlier this week, but Antonio’s cousin, cornerback Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie is flying to New York tonight to visit with the Jets, according to a person familiar with the situation. Rodgers-Cromartie, 27, is a free agent and a reunion with the Broncos seems unlikely after Denver signed former Patriot Aqib Talib.
