Hope springs eternal…in Cleveland.
After last night’s rude dispatching of the Bengals, the Browns are tied for the AFC North divisional lead, which hasn’t occurred in a really long time. How long? I don’t know. That’s how long it’s been.
The remaining AFCN North teams have, from a talent perspective, subpar opponents to deal with Sunday, but as this season has so often reminded us, “anything can happen”, and no team should be overlooked.

Baltimore Ravens
Head coach John Harbaugh believes the Ravens will survive the loss of standout cornerback Jimmy Smith.
My Take: You know, John, you must really have a low opinion of the team’s fans. We’re not that stupid.
Cleveland Browns
Safety Donte Whitner responded to Bengals’ running back Jeremy Hill’s assertion that the Browns “aren’t that good.”
My Take: Have at it, Donte. Hill’s outburst was clearly the result of a lack of self-control and resentment over the loss, but that excuses nothing. He deserves whatever he gets.
Cincinnati Bengals
There’s a possibility that tight end Tyler Eifert could miss the rest of the season.
My Take: The hits keep coming for the Bengals, who were depending on the return of Eifert to shore up the intermediate passing game, especially in light of fellow tight end Jermaine Gresham’s struggles. Here’s hoping Eifert returns sooner rather than later.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Backup safety Ross Ventrone has been added to an extensive list of players that will not be on the field Sunday against the Jets.
My Take: This has to be a real concern, as the secondary was already missing safeties Troy Polamalu and Shamarko Thomas, and cornerback Ike Taylor. The Jets won’t offer much of a challenge through the air, but having experienced personnel would still help considerably.
