Round 1
Pick #13 – Dolphins – Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
Picking a running back at number 13, in Ezekiel Elliot seems like something this Phins front office would do, but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and go elsewhere.
There are long-term and maybe even short-term health questions surrounding Jack, but I think at #13 he will be the best player available and fills a glaring need in the Dolphins defensive. He is the type of player that needs to be creatively utilized and it will be up to the coaching staff to do this.
Other options: Vernon Hargreaves, CB & Reggie Ragland, LB
Pick #19 – Bills – Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama
Rex needs a quarterback for the middle of his defense, he had one in Baltimore, he had one in New Jersey and now he may have one in Buffalo. Ragland is a big, old school linebacker with tons of experience in a NFL talent filled defense. He should be able to step in day one and fill a massive position of need for the Bills.
Other options: Kevin Dodd, DE & Darron Lee, LB
Pick #20 – Jets – Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama
Not a sexy pick, but with the loss of Damon Harrison, a prolific inside DL and potential pending loss of Wilkerson in the next year this should add to the talent pool that has become a staple for the Jets. With an aging OL I also would expect OT to get strong consideration here.
Other options: Jack Conklin, OT, MSU & Taylor Decker, OT, OSU
Round 2:
Pick #42 – Dolphins – Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
Cornerback is a big need for the Dolphins, but there doesn’t seem to be good value at the position here. So with Wake and Mario Williams both aging at the DE position, they get a replacement for the future.
Pick #49 – Bills – Austin Johnson, DT, Penn State
The Bills shored up the middle of their defense in the 1st they now will look to clog up the middle of the defensive line. Kyle Williams is getting older and will need to be replaced sooner rather than later.
Pick #51- Jets – Jason Spriggs, OT, Indiana
They were able to pass over OT in the first round due to the addition of Ryan Clady this offseason, however he is aging as well as an injury liability. This is a pick looking to the future to keep as they look to develop quarterbacks already on their roster.
Pick #60 – Patriots – Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama
Henry may be gone by the time the Patriots find their way to the podium, but this just seems like a pick that fits. Henry is a big back that runs through the holes he sees with power. Blount is getting older and while the Patriots seem to have some solid receiving backs, a clock burner is important.
Pick #61 – Jonathan Bullard, DE, Florida
The Patriots traded away Chandler Jones for this pick and recently cut failed pick Dominique Easley, so why not combine the two for Florida prospect Jonathan Bullard? Sure to be loved by all AFCEers.
Round 3
Pick #73 – Dolphins – Devontae Booker, RB, Utah
Pick #80 – Bills- Kenneth Dixon, RB, Louisiana Tech
Pick #83 – Jets – Cardale Jones, QB, Ohio State (cause why not)
Pick #91 – Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame (more of a wish than anything else)
Pick #96 – Jordan Jenkins, DE, Georgia
