Game Rewind: Week 2 – Patriots @ Bills

Over the next few weeks, we will revisit all divisional games.

The New England Patriots opened the season with a 28-21 victory at home over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Buffalo Bills opened at home and beat what we all thought to be a very tough Colts team, 27-14. We later learn that the Colts actually were about to be an NFL joke as everyone that had a pulse would go on to beat them.

A trip to division rival Buffalo was huge news, mostly because the Bills were coming off a 9-7 season (first winning season in what seemed like forever). Rex Ryan, he who would never kiss Belichick’s rings was making his debut against the hated Patriots as the new lead man in Buffalo. This game was all about making a statement…on the Bills side.

New England, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Rob Gronkwoski, Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman and even Aaron Dobson (who?); yes even he had a blast in Buffalo. Tom Brady unleashed it all on Rex and his pillsbury dough boy defense at the tune of 38 of 59 for 466 yards, 3 TDs, no INTs. That mighty D sacked him twice. Lewis had 40 yards on the ground and 98 in the air with a TD. Gronk 113 Yards with a TD, Julian Edelman 97 yards and 2 TDs. Dobson, the mighty one, 87 yards. This was a statement game in Buffalo, where there were an insane amount of mafia members celebrating ahead of time, in the end they ran out of bullets for their water guns.

The Rex Buffalo Bills unleashed Tyrod the God as the starter at the tune of 23 for 30 and 242 yards. Tyrod threw 3 TDs, stuffing his future stats, but he also had 3 INTs! We will hear how great his QB rating of 93.3 was, however, 3 INTs!!!!!!! Hell Geno could have stepped in and done better!

Biggest prima donnas to accomplish nothing other than a loud mouth prior to the game:

  1. Rex, because he built this game up to be his SB, the fans responded in a big way, and they were hurt in a Norwood way.
  2. LeSean McCoy who never stopped talking from the minute he found out he was being exiled to Western NY. 89 yards rushing while nursing his hamstring that clearly the racist in Philly had inflicted on him.
  3. Tyrod Taylor, who not only threw 3 INTs, he also fumbled the ball twice.
  4. Charles Clay, the overpaid stolen TE from the Dolphins who replaced a maligned Scott Chandler. Scott had a better game as a caddy to so many stars, while Clay, who was expected to be a weapon, was more like a dud (not our Dud).
  5. Bills fan base everywhere, including our site. They had built this game to be the life changer, the statement game. It became watching a peewee team play the big boys in the neighborhood. The Patriots never looked back, handed the Bills what ended up becoming the road paving game for a season of lost expectations.
