Not who will but WHO do you WANT to win.

Not who will but WHO do you WANT to win.

This Bills/Jets game poses some interesting issues for this Patriots fan having nothing to do with who should or will win but who do you want to win. The loser falls to 1-2 on the scalesseason and 0-2 in the division. Is there any advantage to the Patriots which one takes up residence in last place? At this point I don’t see it or see any reason to believe one is in a better position to challenge the Patriots for the division title. The Patriots have a problem with their receivers and it’s an internal problem which if corrected eliminates the threat either team might pose in a rematch. If the Patriots don’t fix the passing game there are lots of teams in front of the Bills & Jets waiting to do some damage. What else is there to consider?

pats jets intA Jets win will only prolong the agony of their fans for another few weeks until their lack of talent relegates them to a spoiler role for the remainder of the season. A narrow win over the Buccaneers and a narrow loss to the Patriots has fueled dreams of 2009 with a great defense compensating for any shortcomings the offense might have. Their first game against a team with a decent passing game is going to close the door on those thoughts. Not much upside to a Jets win.

Ludwig-USA TODAY SportsA Bills win on the other hand gives them a little cushion heading into a three game series with the AFC NORTH before a trip to Miami.  A 4-2 Bills team visiting a 4-1 Miami team strikes me as an intriguing possibility.  If EJ Manuel can continue a course of steady improvement that’s going to be a much better division match-up than what this week offers. It would be nice to see the division have 3 teams with winning records and not hear the AFC LEAST label for a season or two.

That’s settles it for me there’s more upside and benefit to the division if we see a Bills win on Sunday

Miami vs Atlanta = easy.  Hoping for Miami to continue winning and making the division better in the process.

Patriots vs Tampa Bay = duh!  The Patriots need a win here and they need to win with a much improved passing game. The team didn’t have much time for film study or practice between the Bills and Jets games, I hope they did lots of both in the available 9 days since the Jets game.
