Draft is less than a week away which means these mock draft will finally be over.
1st) La’el Collins OL from LSU
Fins have a nice young receiving corp and a young developing QB. However their offensive line is still a work in progress, especially the guard position. Collins played LT in college but due to his size and ability might be a better fit inside. He is solid in run blocking and isn’t half bad in pass protection and would be a day 1 starter at LG and make sure Tannehill doesn’t get sacked 9 million times.
2nd) Quentin Rollins DB from Miami (Ohio)
Safety/#2 CB is an under the radar need for the Fins. Rollins is an interesting case as he originally was a basketball player in college. His last year he decided to give football a try and he did pretty good as a CB. He is very good at reading the QB and caused a few turnovers in his last year. Rollins is a better fit as FS because his instincts and reading the QB are probably better than his actual coverage skills, but he can play either which will give the Fins a valuable piece.
4th) Dezmin Lewis WR from Central Arkansas
The Fins starting WR group is pretty much set with Landry, Still and Jennings. However they lack the size guy who can go up and get it. Lewis has real good size at 6’4 and has won numerous 50/50 balls in college. The major downsides with him are he didn’t play the greatest competition in college and he isn’t the most explosive runner. He is a bit of a project player as a complete receiver but might make his mark early on as a red zone threat which the Fins need.
5th) Jake Ryan LB from Michigan
LB is an area that the Fins could use some more bodies. Ryan is at this point more of a 2-down player as he struggles in pass coverage but is very good against the run. He might develop into a complete linebacker but early on he could be a great asset in stopping the run.
5th) Blake Bell TE from Oklahoma
Big Play Clay is gone and replacing him is Jordan Cameron who is one hit away from being done. Fins like keeping multiple TEs and Blake Bell is a good depth guy who could contribute in the future. The first thing you notice about Bell is he is big at 6’6 250. He has pretty good hands and his blocking isn’t bad either. For a guy who only has played TE for one year he has shown that he can be an NFL TE. Might not be a day one starter but he has lots of potential and could develop into a starter. Plus he can be a Wildcat QB too.
6th) Josh Robinson RB from Mississippi State
Right now the only viable RB the Fins have is Lamar Miller. Josh Robinson is an under the radar back who despite his size, plays with a lot of authority. He isn’t the fastest guy in the world or even great in pass protection but he is a bowling ball when the ball is in his hands. Also has some ability in the receiving game and is solid in that department. Would be a great change of pace back or even be the feature back if Miller regresses.
