Draft Recap

Every year we wait for the Draft and look forward to see how our teams do. Generally drafts are the store where you purchase your foundation material, to built a strong team, for today and tomorrow.

Some teams have done well in recent memory, and it shows in the W-L column, others get by, yet some totally make you scratch your head. Let’s see how our teams did, and I will give them my “thumb” up or down.

Bills

Buffalo Bills

When you don’t have  two picks in the top four rounds, it is very hard to get what you wanted. If after waiting two days, the Bills truly wanted a CB first, then this is what I referred to as a head scratcher. This couldn’t be best player available. My guess is Rex gave strict orders to get more CBs, his style defense requires 3-4 real good ones. This team needed fatties on the OL, CBs are already a pretty solid group.

FIns

Miami Dolphins

The Fins in my opinion had a solid draft. Devant Parker was a top 10 talent, good value pick, and a huge need. My big question mark had to be Jordan Phillips. Overall the Dolphins added depth and created competition in other areas. My favorite pick was Jay Ajay, the “Nigerian Soccer Player” from England. If he can keep his nose clean and be a good citizen, Ajay will be the steal of this draft.

PatsNew England Patriots

The Pats seem to have the same strategy every year: Gather picks, lots of them; law of average says the more you have the better the chance a few make it. This year was no different. Picking up Malcom Brown could be the best pick in round one. Addressing the OL was also a good move, not enough was done to address the depleted secondary.

JetsNew York Jets

New GM Mike Maccagnan had better control in his first draft, than his two predecessors. Leonard Williams was not a need pick, but he does give the Jets the best DL in football, and leverage with Wilkerson. Devin Smith was a huge need, he will provide the speed at WR that stretches the field, especially if you’re running a spread offense. Lorenzo Mauling will be brought along slow, as he learns playing behind Pace. This kid reminds of a young Pace. Bryce Petty in the fourth is not Petty in the second, I like it. He will sit and watch Fitz and Geno for a year, then provide serious competition in 2016. Jets also got two players in trades: WR DeVier Posey, and RB Zac Stacy.
