Buffalo Bills #1 pick, Sammy Watkins
Born in Ft. Myers, Florida, attended South Fort Myers (FL) and Clemson. He also ran track and was a standout athlete. His older brother, Jaylen Watkins, is a defensive back and was just drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Buffalo Bills shocked the football world when 45 minutes into the draft, they announced that they had moved up from #9 to #4 and traded two #1s and a #4 to the Cleveland Browns. Immediately there was excitement by the Bills fans in attendance, and suddenly that excitement turned to ‘what?” Watkins is the first wide receiver selected by the Bills in the first round since Lee Evans in 2004.

The Bills clearly wanted Stevie Johnson to get out of their locker room and town. Watkins should be a huge upgrade.
Bleacher Report Projections:
65 receptions for 750 yards and seven touchdowns. He’ll give opposing defenses pause. He’ll make a lot of plays after the catch. He’ll be a big part of the game plan. But he’ll probably need a year or two before he’s a true, legitimate No. 1 receiver in this league.
*Interesting note, Watkins did say before the draft that he grew up a Buffalo Bills fan.
His numbers during his three years at Clemson are insane.
My take:
Watkins will be the Bills’ best receiver in a long time. His speed and athleticism should be a huge help for second year QB, EJ Manuel. DBs in the AFCE beware; Sammy is coming!
“You have a young quarterback in E.J. Manuel; a talented kid. Now they want to surround him with a weapon, and they went and got the premier wide receiver in this draft.” — Mayock
Quote I loved from AFCN member: @bradblackandgold personally I think Johnson would have contributed far more than Williams, but now they are BWW, Buffalo Wild Wideouts (Watkins, Woods, Williams)
