…WHICH DIVISION HAS BEEN BETTER OVER THE PAST 10 SEASONS?
Last weekend someone asked the question “Which division has been better the past 10 years?” and of course fans of both said their division was the best. So I decided to add up the won-loss totals by each division going back 10 seasons to the 2004-05 season.I’ve added the totals with & without the playoff records and here are the results:
AFC EAST
Patriots: 124-36 regular season/12-8 postseason
Jets: 79-81 regualr season/5-4 postseason
Dolphins: 66-94 regular season/0-1 postseason
Bills: 63-97 regular season/0-0 postseason
AFC NORTH
Steelers: 105-55 regular season/10-4 postseason
Ravens: 95-65 regular season/9-5 postseason
Bengals: 82-77-1 regular season/0-5 postseason
Browns: 51-109 regular season/0-0 postseason
Now before i post the totals lets break down some other numbers first:
What years had the most wins for each division?
2008 East went 38-26 (No Tom Brady that year)
2011 North went 37-27
How many times did 3 teams from one division make the playoffs?
just 1,the North in 2011 (Steelers,Ravens & Bengals)
Which division has the better playoff record?
North with 19-13
East with 17-13
Which division has had more teams in the playoffs?
North teams have made the playoffs 17 times
East teams have made the playoffs 14 times.
Which division has the better Super Bowl record?
North 3-1
East 1-2
And now for our 10 years totals not including playoffs and the winner with ONE more win is……………..
the AFC North with a 333-306-1 record
the AFC East finished at 332-308
add the playoff games and the North still wins with 352-319-1 compared to the East at 349-321
This should be a small victory for the North blog and especially for all those Steelers fans that spent last weekend crying over Luciano’s opinion on Pittsburgh. Here is my prediction on the AFC North this season
1 Browns 12-4
2 Bengals 10-6
3 Ravens 4-12
4 Steelers 4-12
