In the second of a series, for the second straight year, I will pick a player from each AFCE team. This is the player I think has a breakout year; a year that makes people take notice. Second up, the Miami Dolphins.
Ryan Tannehill has developed yearly, passing game should be decent, however, that OL is below par. As such, if the Joe Philbin and Mr. Lazor would like to keep their young QB alive and in one piece, they better run. As some may know, I’m a huge fan of Jay Ajayi, but I have to admit, the other RB on the squad, Lamar Miller is the one I’m picking to merge this season.
Miller had a good year last year, during a year Dolphins management didn’t really believe in him to begin with. The fact that Knoshwn (I never play) Moreno got hurt yet again, Lamar stepped up.
Lazor needs to put aside his strive for success towards a HC position and believe in this kid a little more than he has.
#26 Lamar Miller is a product of the local college team, the once proud “U”. He is 5’10”, 224 lbs, a 4th round pick, now in his 4th season. Last year he rushed 216 times for a total of 1099 yards and 8 TDs. Like I said, had LAzor believed in him even more and less in the passing game, the Dolphins might have been in the playoffs.
Strengths:
Straight-line speed and quickness to the hole
Good Vision as he decides to make a move
Shifty for a man his size
good solid hands
Can catch out of the backfield
So far very durable
Weaknesses:
Runs too upright, needs to make it harder for defenders to take him down
Not very powerful for his size
Not so good on pass protection, which explains Lazor’s lack of trust
When the year is all said and done, Lamar, barring g injuries will be a very expensive option to keep. Only then, will the Fins turn to my guy.
