The Buffalo Bills are done with the important part of the preseason as now all they have is a preseason game only one person will care about. The first three games and training camp has shown a couple key points for the Bills and what they need to do to go to the place, they belong.
Next Brady But Better
The Bills starting QB position was thought to go the way of AJ McCarron as he was the only one with actual playing experience and would have won a playoff game if the Bengals didn’t have a Burfict. Nathan Peterman was the joke of last year with the worst half ever and many didn’t expect him to win. Josh Allen was the wrong Josh for many Bills fans on draft day and was expected to not play this year at all. However, things did not go according to plan.
First off, Nathan Peterman exceeded the hilariously low expectations and showed improvement with his quick decision making and his arm not being 100% a noodle. He actually looked really good despite the many problems that plagued the other starting QBs. AJ McCarron really didn’t get much of a chance with the offensive lineman throwing on purpose to get him hurt and Josh Allen looked good until he had to face a first team defense and having to actually read a defense. Through three games, Nathan Peterman was the only QB that succeeded in spite of the offensive line.
Now Peterman will most likely be the opening day starter and his skill set is similar to another elite QB in the NFL. Peterman has a weak arm, not that great an athlete, not really big, and was drafted in day three. If he was a whiny little girl, he would be a younger version of Tom Brady. However Peterman is not a little crybaby which makes him an even better Tom Brady who will dominate the AFC East for the next ten years once Tom Brady retires to move to San Francisco with his trainer.
Who Needs Offensive Line
This offseason the Bills lost 3/5 of their offensive with one being traded, one retiring due to injury and the other retiring due to….something. The Bills in all their wisdom, decided to not address offensive line this offseason, instead thinking Vlad Ducasse would be a perfect replacement at LG. This plan backfired as many expected as the starting offensive line has been atrocious against starting defensive lines. Ryan Groy who was expected to replace Eric Wood has struggled mightily and John Miller has been in the wrong blocking scheme since Sean McDermott thought Juan Castillo (hooray cronyism) who has been terrible for a decade would do a better job than Aaron Kromer who made the Bills OL top 5 his two years as OL coach. As many expected, the line has been really bad and this falls on the GM who did not try to replace the Pro Bowl talent the Bills had last year and it has shown with two of the QBs suffering injuries in the preseason. The Bills offense will struggle this season and the only bright side is Peterman doing his best Tom Brady impersonation.
In conclusion, the Bills were very lucky to make the playoffs last year (Thank you Andy Dalton) and on offense, the Bills are a bottom five team talent wise with the only bright spot being LeSean McCoy (until he gets suspended for reasons). The only bright spot is at least we didn’t draft Sam Darnold.
Season Prediction: 8 games under .500
