Trade scenarios for Jairus Byrd
One season after Jairus Byrd signed his Franchise tag it seems similar drama is arising. There were separate reports that the Cleveland Browns and new head football coach Mike Pettine are very interested in acquiring Byrd. If Byrd is not signed long term and tagged instead then the Bills will be looking to shop him for either young player or some picks. Let’s explore those options below:
Rebuilding the Offensive Line
Mike Pouncey is the lone returning full time starter on the line and he is coming off a Pro-Bowl season. While Pouncey is a very good center there are more than a few who see him as a better guard. Whether the Dolphins will tinker with that kind of move is unknown but it would be a bold one if they did. The only other contributor the Dolphins have on the roster is G/T/C Nate Garner who will likely be back.
No word on progress signing Talib
The problem, of course, is his durability. In each of his two seasons with the Patriots, Talib failed to stay on the field, particularly when those two campaigns ended in AFC Championships Games. Hip injuries derailed him both times, and his health remains a huge concern for anyone who signs him. The results without him on the field were drastically different. Denver’s Peyton Manning was hardly affected when Talib was in the lineup, but when he left he simply tore the replacements apart.
