Monday’s 4pm Deadline on using Franchise Tag
looming over Buffalo
In addition to the looming deadline the new cap will increase the cost of using the tag. When it was anticipated that the cap would increase to $126M to re-tag Byrd would’ve cost 120% of his previous year’s salary or $8.3M since it was the greater amount, but now it appears that the new salary cap figure will push the franchise figure for safeties to $8.43M.
