LB Spikes motivated to help run defense

Buffalo’s defense finished in the top 10 overall in 2013, but when it came to run defense they were right where they’ve been all too often the last several years, 28th in the league. The Bills gave up 129 rushing yards a game last season, which is part of what prompted the club’s most recent additions at linebacker in free agency. Most notably Brandon Spikes, who is beyond motivated to dramatically change the run defense ranking for Buffalo.

Grading Dolphins’ Early FA Signings

While the start of the 2014 regular season is roughly six months away, the beginning of the free agency period has been very kind to the Miami Dolphins. With the free agency period far from finished, the Miami Dolphins have been very busy early on. With still more noise to be made, here are the grades for the signings that Miami has made to this point in the offseason:

Patriots Running Out of Veteran Options

Looks like the free agency well is running pretty dry. Do the Patriots pony up some cash? Or do they wait until cuts?

Jets lose cornerback to Giants

The Jets did not land yet another free agent cornerback Monday, when Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie agreed to sign with the Giants. There is an increasing sense of frustration about how Jets general manager John Idzik, as he prepares for his second season on the job, is handling the search for a new No. 1 corner, especially since the Jets have about $27.9 million in salary cap space.
