Week 12, all our teams have had their by week. This week the 4-6 Dolphins travel to Met Life and play the 5-5 Jets. The division standings also give us the Patriots at 10-0 and the Bills tied with the Jets at 5-5.
—- the game —-
The Dolphins fired Joe Philbin right after these two teams’ first encounter, however as bad a year as they have had, they come into this game needing a victory to possibly be in a three way tie for second place. However, the Jets have plans of their own.
Other than the opening kick-off, this game was never close, the Jets destroyed any Miami hopes for a .500 record by scoring 38 points. The Dolphins ended with 20, but 13 of those were in desperation mode in the fourth quarter.
Ryan Tannehill continued his garbage time stat collection with 33/58 (yes 58 should tell you that all his passing was in desperation mode) for 351, 3 TDs 1 INT, 1 fumble. These stats tend to give fans a false impression at the end of the year, when everyone has forgotten how they were accumulated. Jarvis Landry continued to showcase his talent with 13 receptions and 165 yards with a TD. The problem once again was defense and rushing the football. Ajai and Miller combined for a grand total of 8 yards. Defensively it was a total disaster. Olivier Vernon had the lone sack of the day, as the Jets offense for the second time this season toyed with them all game long.
The Jets get back over .500 with a complete team effort. Ryan Fitzpatrick 22/37 for 277 yards, 4 TDs, no INTs, one fumble (recovered by the Jets). The ground attack had a good solid day with a collective 137 yards and 1 TD. Brandon Marshall continues to pound his former team, 9 receptions, 131 yards, 2 TDs.
Biggest losers:
- Lamar Miller. Granted the coaching staff only allowed him to rush 5 times, but a total of 2 yards is quite below par.
- Dolphins OL, as Ryan Tannehill was punished by the Jets D all day.
- Kenny Stills, who came into the season as a star in the makings. With 2 receptions for 12 yards it is very obvious that Stills was a product of an elite QB in New Orleans.
