Two games to go, the Dolphins come into week 16 with a record of 4-10, all that is left to play for is the draft. The Bills at 6-8 see the dream of the playoffs become the dream of a .500 record. The Jets at 9-5 have to beat the Patriots (12-2) to continue what appears to be a playoff run.
—- the game —-
In their first meeting, it took a fourth quarter comeback for the Patriots to come up victorious. The Jets today are a little hungrier, since they can smell their first playoffs in a few years. At the end of the day, the Jets reversed the outcome and held to win OT, Jets win 26-20.
Tom Brady 22/31 for 231 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, was held in check. James White continues to score, yet he still gets too few touches. Defensively the Patriots sacked Fitzpatrick once, but rarely got in his face.
The real story was the Jets offense, led by Ryan Fitzpatrick’s 26/41 for 296, 3 TDs, no INTs, 1 fumble lost; Brandon Marshall, 8/115 2 TDs. The running game was stellar with 143 yards.
This game was extremely meaningful to both teams, as the Jets needed to make a playoff push, while the Patriots needed to hold on to their #1 seed in the AFC.
Looking back and knowing that the Jets lose their playoffs in Buffalo and Patriots take a vacation in Miami, this was the game that truly ruined the Patriots chances at repeating. Bills fans have earned the right to tell Jets fans that they kept the team out, because the Jets went to Buffalo to win. Dolphins fans want to make week 17 their 2015 success, however, this was really the game that would have solidified the Pats, and they came to Met Life to win.
Biggest losers:
- Once again the Patriots game plan, it doesn’t include enough of the White Power.
- Tom Brady, a great QB needs to step it up in these huge games, especially when everyone knows how important home field through the playoffs has been for this team.
- Bill Belichick, because he is Bill and that last call was a dumb decision.
- Tom Brady because clearly the picture shows he was enjoying Gronk’s rear end.
