Detroit is starting anew with Jim Caldwell as the head coach of the Lions. He takes over an offense that features the current best WR in the game, a prolific passer, a top-notch veteran and upcoming second year guy at TE, and a solid one-two punch in the backfield. The defense has been viewed as the weak point of a team that has significantly underachieved in the last few seasons. It is imperative that Detroit makes the most of their first selection, and sets the franchise onto a more positive path than the previous regime.
The Lions have added WR Golden Tate and made some depth signings this offseason, while releasing two veterans in Nate Burleson and Louis Delmas. Detroit’s secondary looks to be the weakest aspect of the team heading into the draft, and should be one of the top considerations for the #10 pick. The secondary (23rd against the pass in 2013) held back a solid effort from the rest of the defense (6th against the rush in 2013) in 2013. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Justin Gilbert, Darqueze Dennard, and Calvin Pryor have all been rumored as potential picks for Detroit. Other speculations include LB, DT, and WR. Place your votes below:
